Developing a Study Schedule
The Weekly Schedule
A short-term view of the semester that allows you to see what is happening each day.
STEP ONE: Regular Commitments
Mark out the blocks of time that you are in class as well as the times that are generally the same each day such as sleeping, eating, working, and studying.
STEP TWO: Other Commitments
Place your chart in a plastic sheet protector. With a non-permant marker, write down the activities and commitments that you have that week.

*Print enough for one semester (3-4 months).
STEP ONE: Upcoming Assignments
Place your calendar into a plastic sheet protector. With a non-permanant marker, write down important test dates and other upcoming assignments.
STEP TWO: Preparation Time
Schedule preparation time for each assignment before the deadline to make it easier to complete each assignment on time.
Use Your Syllabi
Use your class syllabi to determine the deadlines for upcoming tests, quizzes, projects, and other important assignments.
Schedule Study Time
Set aside 1 hour blocks of time to study each subject during your day, with 10 minute breaks each hour.
Study Guidelines
- For each hour spend in class, spend 2-3 hours studying
- Study before discussion classes and after lecture classes
- Study the most difficult subjects first when you are most alert
